On the Mayweather Victory and Why It Doesn’t Matter

No one could have said it better.

Jio F. Deslate

It really wasn’t about the fight’s result in the end. I’m not sour-graping. Neither am I disregarding the decisions of the judges. Floyd Mayweather did win. He outboxed Manny and — save for a few headlocks and an overuse of clinches — he did this fair and square. He will go down in history as an undefeated boxer who locked horns with the best of them. But that’s not really the story we care about. If the two men hung up their gloves this very day Mayweather’s victory would just be a footnote in the inspiring life of a fighter like Manny Pacquiao.

The great thing about boxing is that like any other sport it caters to our basest emotions in a relatively healthy way. It frees our primal side and leads us to be completely honest. I’ve encountered reserved, tactful adults screaming “yeah go kick his ass!” in the…

Anatomical Portraits Go Beyond Skin Deep

Muriel Chen:

“We cannot discover new oceans until we have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”
To laugh is to risk appearing a fool
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental
To reach out for another is to risk involvement
To expose feelings is to risk rejection
To place your dreams before a crowd is to risk ridicule
To love is to risk not being loved in return
To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds
is to risk failure

But risks must be taken
because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing
does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrows,
but he cannot learn, feel, change, grow, or love.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave –
he has forfeited his freedom.

Only a person who takes risks is FREE .

If you think you’ve forgotten what you want, lost it or your passion just died and you didn’t know when it happened, you are not the only one.

Now what?

If you think you’ve forgotten what you want, lost it or your passion just died and you didn’t know when it happened, you are not the only one.

I am quite certain that as there are those blessed or lucky few who know what they want or are meant to do, there is a larger proportion of us who are either still looking or have completely forgotten or  lost sight of it.

I am also quite certain that for those that do already know what they want in life there are those who have settled to a life that they think is right by their families, the community and themselves – those like the old man in the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho says “In the long run, what people think of bakers and shepherds becomes more important to them than their own destinies”.

If you could delete a memory, would you?

“We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.”

Jeremy Irons quotes (British Actor, b.1948)

If you could delete a memory, would you?

Life is what you make it they say. I guess it is. It’s such a simple word yet we look at it as complex. The oddities we have made us look at it that way. But then again, what is life without chaos? Chaos had to happen before order. And order needs chaos to grow and change, hopefully, for the better. A push and pull.  And sometimes your pushed and pulled both ways. Taking control over our lives doesn’t come easy to everybody. Including me. Sometimes wishing things were different. All bottled up with anger and shame for things that did and did not happen. End up repressing memories that’ll soon catch up with us. And the only way to get past it is by accepting it. Embracing sullied pasts because it really did happen. If not, then we will forever be haunted. I always say this to myself: Your greatest enemy is YOU. Fighting with our inner selves is a battle that can neither be won nor lost.  Only settled. A battle that will time and again resurface. We all have our own thoughts about life. So it really is what you make it. And Make it count! 🙂

I’m giving blogging a try. This will be a good place for all things I wish to express. Things I can’t say out loud to anyone in reality (which I have to say isn’t healthy but I’m trying to make my way around this slowly). A sort of haven for worn out thoughts and emotions. And a sprinkle of random things. I’m hoping blogging will help me work out my writing skill, if I really have one! Haha! Along with smoothening out the very rough edges of my grammar and sentence construction, I’d love to learn more about playing with words. Gambatte(to me)!
